BNG Global Holding, a Malaysian firm, will build 10,000 flats in Jhilmil residential project area in addition to developing infrastructure. The company will also build a flyover from the capital city’s Shantinagar to the project area.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the company and Rajuk at the secretariat on Wednesday. Rajuk chairman GM Jainal Abdein Bhuiya and Dr S Sabrina of BNG Global Holding signed the memorandum on their respective parts.

A press release from the Housing and Public Works Ministry said the Malaysian company would work to ensure supply of drinking water, and to develop the sewerage and sanitation system in Jhilmil project area apart from building 10,000 flats. This will follow the BOOT (Build-Own-Operate-Transfer) method.

The company will also build a 13.5km flyover from Shantinagar to the project area and implement some development projects in Kamrangirchar.

“BNG Holding will hopefully start the work soon. It will be beneficial to people who were allocated plots in the area as well as the locals,” Housing and Public Works Minister Mosharraf Hossain said at the memorandum signing programme.

Senior officials of Rajuk and the ministry were present at the programme.
